Prospectivity Mapping for Magmatic-Related Seafloor Massive Sulfide on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge Applying Weights-of-Evidence Method Based on GIS

The Mid-Atlantic Ridge belongs to slow-spreading ridges. Hannington predicted that there were a large number of mineral resources on ridges; however, seafloor massive sulfide deposits usually develop thousands meters below the seafloor, which make them extremely difficult explore. Therefore, it is necessary use prospectivity mapping narrow exploration scope and improve efficiency. Recently, Fang Shao conducted northern Ridge, but magmatic-related whole scale has not yet been carried out. In this study, 11 types data mineralization collected namely water depth, slope, oceanic crust thickness, faults, small ridge, bedrock age, spreading rate, Bouguer gravity, magnetic seismic point density. Then, favorable information was extracted from these establish predictive maps create potential model. Finally, weights-of-evidence method applied conduct mapping.
